4 Building Blocks to Grow in Grace
We are commanded, not just encouraged to grow in grace. It’s not enough to just receive grace, but we are supposed to reciprocate that grace to everyone who the Lord brings our way. Demonstrating and exercising grace for others is one of those things that is easier said than done, but the Lord is good in that he doesn’t just tell us what we need to do, but he follows up his commands with the instructions to show us how to accomplish those commands. This command is no different, the Lord gives us a roadmap to help us to accomplish the command of growing in grace.
In this message, we are going to look at four building blocks or fundamentals that you need to exercise in order to grow in grace. Sharing the grace that you have received with others is a fundamental principle of the Christian faith. In Ephesians 4:1 the Apostle Paul begs us to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith we are called. That vocation isn’t the job or career that you have chosen for yourself, but rather that vocation is simply living the Christian life. Once you are born again, the Lord has expectations of how you should live your life.
Among other things, one of those expectations is that you will grow in grace, this doesn’t mean that you should grow in your personal need to receive grace, but rather it means that you need to grow in the grace that you have towards other people.
The four building blocks that are described in this message are not intended to be an all-inclusive list but are rather as the title describes, simply building blocks or a foundation that will get you moving in the right direction. If you will exercise these building blocks in your daily interactions and/or schedule, these building blocks will enable you to start the process of growing in grace.
The four building blocks are:
- Spend more time in the word of God
- Acts 20:32
- Psalms 119:165
- Spend more time in Prayer (Ask for it)
- Hebrews 4:16
- Humble yourself
- James 4:6
- 1 Peter 5:5
- Give liberally
- 2 Corinthians 9:7-11
- Ephesians 4:22-32
