The Good Path
We are supposed to search for the knowledge of God as for hid treasure according to Proverbs 2:3-4. Hidden treasure is a fascinating subject, it brings to mind things like pirates, and their treasure maps where X marks the spot.
Many books and stories have been written about hidden treasures, books like ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Lewis Stevenson, and stories like ‘The Gold Bug’ by Edgar Allen Poe. The search for hidden treasures is also the main theme of the blockbuster movie ‘National Treasure’.
Many people have gone to great lengths, up to and including, causing their own deaths in the pursuit of hidden treasure. No less than six people have died in the pursuit of the supposed treasure hidden on Oak Island off the coast of Nova Scotia.
As a Christian, you are told to search the word of God just as hard as you would search for hidden treasure. If you do, then and only then can you find the good path.
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. – Proverbs 2:1-9
